When Nature Becomes the Instrument
Ars Natura is an audiovisual live performance by Luxembourg-based artist Enkel Peer, built entirely from sounds found in the natural world. Animal voices, field recordings, human breath, wood, water, plants and everyday objects are transformed through sampling, analog processing and live experimentation into electronic music.
Ars Natura begins with a simple idea: music does not have to start with an instrument.
A bird call can become a melody. A branch can become percussion. A whale, a human voice or the electrical activity of a plant can become the starting point for an entirely new sound.
At the centre of the project stands the handmade Ars Natura Desk, an evolving acoustic laboratory built in the former carpentry workshop of Enkel Peer’s grandfather. Combining analog audio technology, field recording, craftsmanship and natural materials, it forms the heart of a live performance where sound is collected, transformed and rediscovered.
Ars Natura is not about adding nature to electronic music. It is about building electronic music from nature itself.
